Role: Junior Accounting Clerk
Location: New York City (Downtown Financial District)
Purpose of Role:
The Junior Accounting Clerk supports the organization's financial operations by ensuring accurate records, maintaining regulatory compliance, and assisting with audits. This role is key to managing inter-branch and inter-bank accounts, and preparing financial reports. Collaborating with manager and senior staff, the Junior Accounting Clerk helps uphold transparency and accountability while promoting continuous improvement in financial practices.
Major Responsibilities:

Manage and respond to confirmation requests from financial institutions, ensuring timely and accurate communication.

Oversee the maintenance of approved budgets and track holidays observed by the Federal Reserve System using the AS/400 system.

Collaborate with independent auditors to facilitate the external audit process and assist in addressing any findings from audits or regulatory examinations.

Prepare and organize documentation for various audit examinations, including internal and external audits.

Monitor and maintain exchange rates for major currencies in the AS/400 system, ensuring up-to-date information is readily available

Generate and report on monthly asset deposits from branches and agencies of foreign banks.

Conduct reconciliations for Nostro/Due from Bank Accounts (including filing MT950), ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.

Compile and submit reconciliations for inter-branch accounts and manage the approval process.

Review and validate accounting reports using the Report Processing Query System (RPQS).

Compile financial data for regulatory reporting, including the Report of Transaction Accounts and Vault Cash (FR 2900).

Control the receipt and utilization of blank official check stock and ensure accurate imaging of cleared checks.

Organize daily transaction documentation and maintain accurate records for internal processes.

Verify financial data related to liabilities and communicate findings to the Funding Division.

Ensure the integrity of general ledger and sub-ledger accounts within the AS/400 system.

Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by management to support the overall objectives of the finance team.
Skills, Competencies and Experience Preferred:

An Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.

Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

Proficiency in accounting software, particularly AS/400, and Microsoft Office Suite (Concentration in Excel and Outlook)

Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively.

A proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Bilingual in Mandarin / English
