About This Role
Cloud Architects (CA) in VMware by Broadcom’s Corporate Accounts segment provide the technical leadership for customers’ strategic IT programs and initiatives. Cloud Architects are data center experts, with expertise in VMware and many adjacent data center technologies. The CA partners closely with Broadcom’s Field Solutions Architects (SA). SAs are responsible for being technologists and experts in their customer.
The CA is responsible for discovery of customer needs, architecting and demonstrating the value of VMware by Broadcom’s VMware Cloud Foundations (VCF) solution, and prescribing consumption and future state architecture plans for clients’ long term success. You will work closely with our customers, Client Executives, Pre-Sales peers, extended Specialist teams, and VMware by Broadcom’s executive leadership team. The CA is a high impact, very visible role responsible for ensuring adoption of the VCF solution within the segment’s top tier, assigned accounts.
Building solutions may include activities such as executing workshops, conducting client interviews, doing secondary research, soliciting guidance from account teams and industry specialists, performing VCF demonstrations, Scooping and deployment activities, along with technical specialists and product managers. In the Cloud Architect role you will have the chance to leverage your architectural, engineering, and IT leadership skills, as well as your industry knowledge and your knowledge of VMware by Broadcom’s transformational portfolio to shape the future of IT.
Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?
Within the first 3 months in role, you will be engaged in a variety of enablement and training designed to help you achieve proficiency in various technologies and concepts necessary for the role including:
VMware Cloud Foundation product knowledge and implementation
Networking and troubleshooting skills across the VCF ecosystem
Oral and written communication skills and presentation abilities
Problem solving and critical thinking skills
Shadowing CA team member in person and via Zoom
Within the first 6 weeks in the role, you will begin working with assigned territory team members, participating in technical discovery workshops and developing technical architectures. You’ll also work to broaden your network and reach within the organization.
Within 3 months you will be proficient in leading technical discovery workshops, developing future state architectures, and validating solution alignment with customer requirements.
Within 9-12 months you will have the opportunity to engage in additional projects to enhance your personal growth and expand your contribution throughout the organization.
The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
You will join sales teams in leading customers through architecture and discovery workshops in the pre-sales process to determine interest and viability of solving customer problems leveraging the VMware Cloud Foundation solution.
You will lead in product conversation highlighting key product features, benefits and capabilities.
Perform as the VCF Industry, Use Case & Technology subject matter expert.
Perform VCF & Data Center Architectural Design.
Lead the development of customer VCF consumption plans and future state architecture for VMware by Broadcom key Corporate customers.
Identify additional resources and work with peers and leadership, as needed, for architecture design efforts.
Assists in identifying a partner to perform client-agreed-upon architecture’s delivery.
Perform in person or via Zoom session, whiteboarding exercises with customer technical teams and business executives.
Understand the customer's business objectives, IT initiatives, and IT environment and match them with VMware’s value proposition, vision, technologies and services in order to create a value outcome based solution.
Collaborate with the sales and pre-sales teams, and specialists throughout opportunities and in development stages.
Pro-actively maintain expertise of VMware technologies via provided enablement and internal training offerings.
Maintain technical and business knowledge of industry direction and trends.
Maintain working knowledge of competitive offerings and architectures.
With your team members you will lead workshops with customer stakeholders to identify business and technical requirements, current state gaps, as well as opportunities and inhibitors.
With your Specialist counterparts, you will participate in demos and proof of concepts for customers.
Perform Peer Reviews of VCF solution proposals for adoption viability.
VCF and Data Center Technology Coaching for Pre-Sales Teams.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
BA/BS in a technical field
Twelve (12) or more years of Information Technology experience.
IT Team/Departmental Leadership OR pre-sales customer facing experience
Experience in developing, positioning, and implementing business aligned IT strategies, architectures, roadmaps, and proposals.
Strong listening and question based consultative skills.
Strong relationship building skills.
Ability to effectively present to audiences and adjust to level of role and understanding. Including executive audiences.
Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly.

Advanced certifications (Examples include: ITIL, CISSP, VCP, VCDX) a plus.
Location & Travel
This is a home office-based position with candidates residing in the West.
Travel: Up to 50% to customer sites and conferences as needed. Most travel will be regional.

Compensation and Benefits
The On Target Earnings (OTE) range for this position is $148,000 - $262,000
OTE includes Sales Incentive Commission in accordance with relevant plan documents. This position is also eligible for equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
