The selected applicant must be able to work at 101 E. 15th Street in Austin, Texas, and be able to work 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
As an intake team member, work primarily administering clerical support for the Appeals Department across the state. The Appeals Department holds and hear first level appeals from the original determination in disputed claims for unemployment insurance benefits under the Texas Unemployment Compensations Act; and disputed claims for unemployment insurance under specific federal programs. Upon request the Appeals Department may also be called upon to hold other special hearings. The hearings are mandated by state law and are to be held in a fair and impartial manner. Performs entry-level administrative support work for the State Office Appeals Department of the Texas Workforce Commission. Works under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO:
-Perform routine entry level administrative support work for the State Office Appeals Department of the Texas Workforce Commission.
-Update UI Appeal decisions by entering the statistical data supplied by hearing officers on the summary sheets in the decision update screens.
-Use personal computer (PC) to process case documents, research and enter data, and request additional documents.
-Process and distribute incoming and outgoing mail, fax and email within established time frame.
-Process digital information with CDs or digital storage devices, copy recordings as requested; @type letters and keep daily log of all completed and pending request.
-May involve lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds of files and documents.
-Prepare, generate and distribute reports and correspondences for the department in a timely manner.
-May include data entry into various databases.
-Occasional overtime as needed to perform the assigned duties.
-Perform other duties as assigned, which may include cross training to assist other units as need arises.
YOU QUALIFY WITH:
-Six months of full-time experience that provided knowledge of administrative support functions and office practices and procedures, or clerical administration and business management practices, such as preparation, maintenance, and control of forms, records, and reports.
-Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications for this position.
-Acceptance into a TWC Internship, TWC Apprenticeship, or current participation in a TWC approved high school career and technical education program will satisfy the minimum qualifications.
