Responsibilities:
Inspects, adjusts, and repairs trailers with minor problems.
Ensures equipment is functioning properly and within Department of Transportation compliance.
Troubleshoots electrical/mechanical malfunctions on air brakes, switches, lighting circuits, control valves, relief valves, and other items.
Adjusts mechanical items such as doors and slack adjusters.
Performs light maintenance such as replacing/repairing marker lights, seals, airbags, and mud flaps.
Performs trailer body repairs such as patching of roofs, panels, rail repairs, door sections, floor sections, cross-member replacement, etc.
Minor welding repairs.
Repairs/replaces tires, wheel bearings and seals.
Changes fluids and filters as necessary.
Replace and adjust brakes for proper function.
Inspects and cleans parts; submits orders if part must be replaced.
Confirms proper function of equipment and truck after maintenance.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Must meet inspector qualifications outlines by FMCSA section CFR 396.17
Willing and able to work without direct supervision.
2+ years related experience (Preferred).
Licensed Mechanic Journeyman preferred
