Assist the Head Band Director in all activities for the band program under the leadership of the Director of Bands. Assist with feeder pattern curriculum alignment, middle and intermediate schools, and actively support the school and community. Provide students with an opportunity to participate in extracurricular band activities and ensure compliance with all state, University Interscholastic League (UIL), and district requirements. Plan activities to achieve district, region, and state recognition.
Responsibilities:
Direct middle and intermediate school band performers, as well as high school band, pep rallies, concert band, soloists, and ensembles.
Establish performance requirements, enforce academic requirements, and verify each student's eligibility to participate in band.
Provide for band participation at extracurricular events, concerts, football games, pep rallies, parades, and UIL acttivities.
Obtain and us evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to determine program effectiveness and ensure that renewal is continuous and responds to student needs.
Assist with the maintenance of current inventory of all band equipment within middle school.
Actively participate in the process of cleaning, repairing and storing all band equipment.
Instruction
Develop and implement plans for the middle school band program and show written evidence of preparation as required
Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student differences
Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
Create an environment conducive to learing and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
Student Management
Apply and enforce student discipline in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
Accompany and supervise students on out of town trips.
Take all necessary and reasonable precaustions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Communication
Establish and maintain open communications by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
Maintain professional relationship with colleauges, students, parents, and community members.
