Position Summary:
The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for supporting Midcap and Major projects from early conceptual engineering through project completion.
The Electrical Engineer will report to the Electrical Engineering Lead and/or Engineering Manager and have responsibility for coordinating and providing electrical support to define overall project electrical needs and scope. The Electrical Engineer will support the project through detailed design, construction and closeout. Projects will range in size from $20 million to $1 billion and will include both Capital and Expense work.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated, team-oriented individual. The position requires the ability to interface with numerous project teams, and additional departments outside of the Major Projects Group.
Key Responsibilities:
Apply Electrical Engineering skills and knowledge in all phases of projects from conception to closeout.
Review design drawings and specifications and coordinate input from stakeholders. Participate in technical reviews with project engineers, engineering firms and equipment suppliers.
Manage and participate on multiple projects and assignments in a timely, safe, and cost-effective manner.
Coordinate electrical activities of multifunctional project teams consisting of owner and contract employees.
Oversight of engineering firms and equipment suppliers during the Definition and Implementation phases for assigned projects.
Manage the electrical project scope, cost, and schedule to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget.
Ensure that project scope is clearly defined and meets the requirements of the end users.
Performs electrical distribution system protection analysis and provides support for others.
Assist in the preparation of electrical construction work plans, system protection and power requirement studies.
Designs electric systems and develops specifications for major items of equipment
Reviews electrical contract documents for construction and for materials acquisition
Monitors design and construction activities to ensure compliance with Marathon Specifications and other industry requirements and standards.
Analyzes current system data and produces plans for future transmission and substation capacity expansion. Ensures adequate system capacity, services and reliability and optimal economy.
Facilitates planning of system additions modifications and improvements with interconnected utilities.
Lead the effort in determining preventative maintenance schedules and procedures, setup of spare parts, arrange and provide required training for new electrical equipment installed on assigned projects.
Participate in management of change (MOC) reviews for applicable projects.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering is required. (Education must be obtained/completed prior to start date)
Performs electrical power system studies utilizing ETAP modeling
Knowledge of electrical distribution and substation design a plus
A Valid Driver's License is required.
