Position Title: Real Time Trader I, II, III, or Senior

Position Purpose:
This position works independently to meet hourly system load requirements through a prescribed strategy of optimized dispatch of the Cooperative's generating assets and the skillful negotiation of sales and purchases of wholesale power. The incumbent creates hourly deals, records accurate settlements, and monitors and adjusts short- and long-term transactions. The incumbent resolves scheduling issues due to transmission limitations, will obtain crucial transmission, and will monitor and understand market fundamentals. This position is identified as a Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) related position which may allow physical and/or logical access to Bulk Electric System (BES) cyber related assets or systems.
Essential Functions:
Implement short-term plan for strategies related to hourly transactions and scheduling communicated by management to meet the requirements for serving member load and other power supply obligations.
Communicate and coordinate with the Southwest Power Pool (SPP), Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) and Western Area Colorado Missouri (WACM) balancing authorities for short-term position maintenance and operation and dispatch of generation resources. Inform owners of availability of jointly owned assets in a timely fashion to adjust the dispatch of the generation assets.
Develop a broad understanding of the Cooperative's energy position within separate and distinct electrical regions and markets and proactively engage in market activities to effectively balance the Cooperative's generation assets and obligations to others.
Develop knowledge and a view on natural gas prices and recommend the least cost asset to be deployed under system conditions.
Develop proven relationships with counterparties; daily check-out of sales and purchases with counterparties; ensure proper transaction recording; assist Middle and Back Office with regards to settlements, imbalance monitoring, contracts, and credit.
Adhere to all policies and comply with all regulatory requirements, including but not limited to NERC, FERC, and relevant state regulations as applicable to this position. Comply with all Risk Management policies for power position management and transaction/deal capture.
Qualifications **:
Real Time Trader I:**
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or Engineering; or
High school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED) and 4 years of related trading or physical power trading experience.
Real Time Trader II:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field, and 3 years of related physical power trading or trading experience; or
High school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED) and 7 years of related trading or physical power trading experience.
Real Time Trader III:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field and 5 years of related physical power trading or trading experience; or
High school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED) and 9 years of related trading or physical power trading experience.
Able to make decisions to meet deadlines and the ability to execute trades/transactions for our RTO positions while utilizing pricing discovery.
Real Time Trader, Sr:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field and 7 years of related physical power trading or trading experience; or
High school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED) and 11 of related trading or physical power trading experience.
Able to make decisions to meet deadlines and the ability to execute trades/transactions for our RTO positions while utilizing pricing discovery.
Other Requirements:
Shift work, including overnight shifts throughout the month.
NERC system operator certification may be required and maintained in good standing while performing the requirements of this position.
Able to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills and strong negotiation skills.
Able to effectively make decisions using initiative and creativity to meet immediate deadlines.
Able to develop plans, procedures, and goals; present information to others; and work under stress to complete projects within deadlines.
Knowledge of business practices and procedures and a technical knowledge in a wide range of business functions, an understanding of power generation, transmission systems, control area operations, marketing pools, natural gas markets, and economic principles.
Experience using Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.

Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:
This position requires frequent sitting and standing/walking; and occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, use of keyboard/computer, bending, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination. This position requires good hearing and vision, and the ability to speak.
