Description
Performs functions to support the design and manufacture of material handling equipment supplied by Whiting Corporation as it relates to the electrical and control system design. Supports both the presales and post-sales efforts to meet the needs of applications and design engineering functions.
Under General Direction
Designs control and electrical systems the meets the requirements for material handling equipment including compliance with the National Electrical Code.
Create wiring schematic, interconnection, and control system drawings for use in the manufacture of the product.
Reviews and interprets customer, original equipment manufacturer (OEM), national-industrial (NEC and OSHA) and company technical specifications and codes as they relate to electrical and control systems required to meet the performance requirements of material handling equipment.
Sizes and selects OEM components required to meet the design and performance requirements for Whiting material handling equipment (including motors, programmable logic controllers and variable frequency drives). Work with outside vendors to obtain technical information, define requirements, obtain quotations and review their finished work in support of assigned projects.
Define and create bills of material working with the company enterprise resource planning system.
Supports the resolution of equipment warranty and customer service related issues as well as provide troubleshooting assistance to both internal and external customers.
Supports the testing, checkout and startup of equipment manufactured by Whiting Corporation, within the manufacturing facility and at customer sites.
Supports the group's performance to achieve company performance goals.
Reports to: the designated product equipment group supervisor or manager. May receive direction from senior electrical engineers.
Uses: Microsoft Office applications, Autocad/Draftsight, (PLC) control system and Human Machine Interface (HMI) display programming software by Allen Bradley. Enter data and information into the company ERP system. Use electrical meters and other tools to troubleshoot electrical control systems.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology.
Two years of related job experience preferred.
Familiar with the National Electrical Code as is applies to motors, industrial controls, and material handling equipment.
Ability to create and understand PLC ladder diagrams, create and interpret schematic and interconnection diagrams; use electrical meters and other electrical tools.
Ability to create control system programs for Allen Bradley programmable logic controllers using control system software by Allen Bradley.
Ability to program Human Machine Interface (HMI) displays as part of developing and programming control systems for material handling equipment using control system software by Allen Bradley.
Candidate must be a good communicator, both verbal and written, have the ability to conduct interpersonal speaking and writing across all functions of the organization.
Ability to travel to customer sites, on average 20-30 percent of work time.
Occasional work in a manufacturing environment to review and troubleshoot electrical control systems.
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required at customer and Whiting manufacturing sites.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and 2-D CAD software (Autocad/Draftsight) required.
Performs other duties as assigned. Participates in continuous improvement and research and development efforts. Follows safety rules and keeps work area in clean and orderly condition.
Pay Range: $85,000 - $100,000 per year based on experience, education, skills and qualifications.
