Northrop Grumman's Space Systems is looking for an experienced Staff Physicist Radiation Effects to support the Launch and Missile Defense Systems business unit for Systems Engineering Radiation Effects team. This position is located at the Chandler, AZ facility.
Staff Physicist Radiation Effects will play a key role in support of new strategic missile development efforts within the Specialty Engineering group. Project entails hardening launch vehicle structures and avionics to the effects of nuclear radiation and EMP.
A broad experience base in man-made radiation effects, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation forms is desirable. Knowledge of transient radiation effects on electronics (TREE), worst-case circuit analysis (WCCA), and ionizing radiation shielding and transport analysis is preferred.
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum Education / Experience: 12 Years with Bachelors in Science; 10 Years with Masters; 8 Years with PhD.
US Citizenship as a prerequisite.
Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope-
Previous work experience with radiation-hardened electronic circuit design, analysis and testing to include circuit analysis using PSPICE or similar analysis tools, data analysis using Python and MATLAB, radiation effects testing of electronics via IL-STD-750 test methods.
Knowledge of electronic equipment radiation effects susceptibility and design hardening mitigation techniques, including radiation shielding, hardened part selection and qualification, hardened circuit design and circuit response analysis.
?- Experienced with radiation effects analysis and simulation tools, such as CREME96, SIRE2, MCNP, Testable Hardware Toolkit (THTK), and MEEC.
Experience developing test requirements and procedures, hardware, and software for use in evaluating semiconductor devices in radiation environments.
-Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques, including hardness assurance methods of MIL-HDBK-814 and MIL-HDBK-816.
Develop and design hardware and software capable of evaluating semiconductor devices in radiation environments.
Experience preferred in fast-paced work environment with production/flight hardware.
Experience writing radiation effects analysis and test plans and reports.
Ability to work in a team environment, and occasional travel (approx. 30%).
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present to large customer community.
Ability to solve problems, analyze test results, drive tasks to completion.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, physics.
Salary Range: $147,700.00 - $221,500.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
