Job Overview:
The Cardiac Service Administrative Assistant performs delegated functions as a member of a patient care team by providing administrative and clerical support and communicating with members of the healthcare team, patients and families. This role contributes to the successful operation of the work area and functions in accordance with all existing regulatory and hospital standards, policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of two years of secretarial experience in a hospital environment or medical office.
Computer proficiency with knowledge of Windows-based computer applications.
Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred:
Bachelor's Degree from a recognized college or secretarial school

Scheduling Requirements:
Working Shift: Monday-Friday
Day Shift: 8:30AM-4:30PM
Full-Time, 37.5 Hours Per Week
Essential Functions:
Greeting patients and family members
Scheduling appointments for CT Surgery and Structural Heart cases
Taking patients for testing as needed
Authorizations for diagnostic testing and surgery
Insurance verification
Obtaining and uploading outside medical records onto EHR system
Track referrals and assist with structural heart database
Send medical records and follow up to referring MDs
Completes assigned tasks with minimum supervision while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality
Assist with Heart Failure Clinic
Room turnover and supply checks
