DESCRIPTION: Under general supervision of the Presiding Magistrate
and/or Court Administrator, conducts court\
security operations including patrolling and observing the activities of
persons in and around the Court building and\
grounds, greets Court customers and answer routine questions, prevents
unauthorized access to restricted areas,\
contacts police or fire department in case of an emergency.\
CLASSIFICATION: This is a non-exempt, part-time, classified position
with limited benefits.\
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential functions, as defined under the Americans
with Disabilities Act, may include\
the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. This
list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and is not a\
comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by incumbents
of this classification.\
TASKS:\
Patrols and observes the activities of persons in and around Court
buildings, grounds and parking areas; meets\
and greets the public at entry into the Court building; administers
screenings including, but not limited to, metal\
detectors, X-ray machines and hand wands, plus use of various @types of
screening devices and equipment;\
answers routine questions and directs visitors to appropriate areas;
explains and follows Court and city services,\
processes and policies; circulates within the Court building and
Courtroom to preserve order and protect persons\
and property; may be requested to remain at a fixed post to observe
activities; writes reports of activities and/or\
irregularities such as incidents of damage, unauthorized persons, or
unusual occurrences; escorts persons from\
the building after court hearings and/or after hours; prevents
unauthorized access to restricted areas; enforces\
correction of infractions through verbal warning, expels unruly persons
and detains more serious offenders for\
proper authorities; provides first aid/CPR/AED as necessary; summons
police and/or fire department in case of\
emergency; assists the Court Administrator and the Magistrate as needed
to ensure the efficient and effective\
functioning of the Court
